What We Did on Our Winter Vacation

Okay, so we weren't really on *vacation*, but we did take a break from major house projects. Not only was it too cold to work in the garage or open windows for ventilation, but we were just plain tired of big projects after redoing the kitchen! Here's what we did instead:

We played in the snow...

...then watched our snowman melt to the ground one unseasonably warm January day.

We read lots of books...

...and watched some movies.

Making chocolate-dipped, cheesecake-stuffed strawberries on Valentine's Day
We thoroughly enjoyed using our new kitchen!

Cleaning and re-seasoning cast iron pans passed down from Justin's Grandmother

Juniper lampoons Brigitte's love of seed collecting.

Brigitte did a lot of online seed trading, amassing an impressive array of heirloom tomatoes, peppers, and other tasty things for this summer's garden.

Fresh "homemade" mung bean sprouts

Brigitte also got impatient to start growing things, and so experimented with growing sprouts (the verdict? Yum!).

Junie's to-do list
And far too many more things to list here!

What did *you* do this winter?

  1. Drive Daddy Crazy is my favorite on Junie's list. She's brilliant.

Your mung bean sprouts remind me of Verna, which of course makes me miss all things Wriston.

I am so ready to be out in the garden. Steve told me that he wants to double the size of our garden this year. Our apple tree should start producing fruit this year. And Steve was gifted a peach tree for Christmas. It's all so exciting!
